Airlocks

The function of an airlock is to keep the outside air from contaminating your beer wort or wine must. The water inside the airlock is a perfect barrier for this purpose. It prevents wild yeasts and bacteria from entering while also allowing for the escaping gas from the fermentation process to exit.
